Entertainment Week Africa Opens Applications for Creative Businesses

LAGOS, Nigeria — 9 September 2026: Entertainment Week Africa has issued an open call inviting eligible creators, professionals and businesses to participate in its 2026 programme.

The initiative brings together different parts of Africa’s entertainment ecosystem, including music, film, television, digital media, technology and creative entrepreneurship.

For Nigerian participants, the opportunity could provide access to industry conversations, professional networks and possible relationships with distributors, investors, technology providers and other creative businesses.

Participation in an industry event does not automatically produce funding or a commercial agreement. Creatives who apply should therefore arrive with clearly defined objectives and materials that explain the value of their work.

A musician may require a concise catalogue and streaming-performance summary. A filmmaker should understand the ownership and territorial status of the project being presented. A creative-technology founder should be able to explain the business problem, customer demand and revenue model.

Applicants should also prepare professional biographies, high-quality photographs, samples of previous work and contact information that can be shared easily after meetings.

Rights documentation is particularly important. Creators seeking licensing or distribution opportunities must be able to show that they control—or have permission to represent—the music, film, format or intellectual property being discussed.

Participants should submit applications only through the authorised programme route, retain confirmation emails and avoid unofficial representatives requesting payment in exchange for guaranteed selection.

The open call arrives as African entertainment businesses seek stronger commercial connections across borders. Nigeria has one of the continent’s most visible creative industries, but many smaller operators still struggle with financing, rights management, distribution and reliable market access.

The strongest measure of the programme’s value will be what happens after the event: collaborations completed, businesses funded, rights licensed and audiences reached.
