NSCDC Delta Reaffirms Commitment to Protect Telecom Infrastructure, Assures IHS of Enhanced Security
The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting telecommunications infrastructure across the state, assuring IHS Nigeria of continued support in combating vandalism, theft and other threats to critical national assets.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the Director of Security at IHS Nigeria, Ahmed Iliyasu, and his delegation to the NSCDC Delta State Command Headquarters, where they were received by the State Commandant, Chinedu F. Igbo.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ahmed Iliyasu described the engagement as a collaborative effort aimed at strengthening the long-standing partnership between IHS Nigeria and the NSCDC. He commended the Corps for its exceptional performance since both organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), noting that the partnership has continued to deliver positive results in safeguarding telecommunications infrastructure.
He also praised the leadership of the Delta State Command and acknowledged the professionalism of its officers, as well as the strong working relationship established between the NSCDC and IHS in the state.
Responding, Commandant Chinedu Igbo welcomed the delegation alongside the Head of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) Department and other senior officers. He reiterated the Command’s determination to tackle vandalism and other security threats despite prevailing challenges.
The Commandant emphasized that, as the lead agency responsible for protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, the NSCDC remains committed to collaborating with other security agencies to ensure the safety and security of vital national facilities.
He further advised IHS Nigeria to engage NSCDC-licensed private guard companies to provide dedicated security for its Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), explaining that the measure would significantly reduce incidents of vandalism and theft.
Highlighting recent operational successes, Commandant Igbo disclosed that the Command had established a dedicated CNAI Surveillance and Monitoring Team. According to him, the initiative has already yielded positive outcomes, including the arrest and public parade of five suspected electric cable vandals.
He assured the IHS delegation of the Command’s continued support and encouraged the company to remain committed to fulfilling its obligations under the existing Memorandum of Understanding.
The meeting reinforced the strategic partnership between the NSCDC and IHS Nigeria, underscoring their shared commitment to protecting critical telecommunications infrastructure, enhancing public safety and ensuring uninterrupted communication services for residents across Delta State.
