Court Remands Content Creator ‘Odogwu Asaba’ Over Allegations Linked to Favour Agbro’s Death

ASABA, Delta State — A Delta State High Court has ordered the remand of content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu Asaba,” over allegations connected to the reported sexual assault and subsequent death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.

The court granted the remand application on Friday, September 4, 2026, following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case. Ogbonna was subsequently taken to the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre, where he is expected to remain while the judicial process continues.

Awele Ideal, counsel representing Agbro’s family, announced the development in a statement. She said the results of autopsy and toxicology examinations had been released to the police investigation team and incorporated into the case file alongside other evidence gathered by investigators.

According to the lawyer, responsibility for the next stage of the case now rests with the Delta State Ministry of Justice, acting through the Office of the Attorney-General and the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The remand does not amount to a conviction or a final determination of the allegations. It allows Ogbonna to remain in custody while prosecutors review and pursue the case in accordance with the court’s directions.

The matter attracted significant public attention after Agbro reportedly made allegations against the content creator in a video recorded before her death.

According to accounts published after the incident, the 20-year-old travelled to Asaba after allegedly responding to an invitation connected to a content-creation training programme promoted online. She was reportedly taken to a hotel, where she alleged that she was sexually assaulted.

Agbro was said to have returned home and informed members of her family about the alleged encounter. She also reportedly recorded a video in which she described what she claimed had happened.

She later reportedly ingested a toxic substance and died. The precise circumstances and legal responsibility surrounding her death remain matters for investigators and the court to determine.

Following a petition submitted by Agbro’s family, the Delta State Police Command opened an investigation into the allegations. Ogbonna was subsequently arrested, while autopsy and toxicology examinations were conducted as part of efforts to establish the relevant facts.

With the remand order now granted, the case is expected to move from the investigative phase to prosecution. Further details, including the formal charges and the next court date, had not been publicly confirmed at the time of publication.

Ogbonna is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
