Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has said his administration’s achievements over the past three years are a result of God’s grace, wisdom, and mercy, while stressing that major development projects in the state have been executed without borrowing funds.
He made the remarks during the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, which also marked the third anniversary of his administration in office. The ceremony attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, clergy, government officials, and residents from across the state, and featured a sermon by renowned cleric, Apostle Joshua Selman.

Reflecting on his tenure since May 29, 2023, Governor Oborevwori described the journey as “eventful, exciting, and enlightening,” expressing gratitude to Deltans for their continued support. He said his administration has focused on people-centered policies and key infrastructure projects aimed at improving living standards across the state.
“Today, we are celebrating three years of this administration. This is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight. I remain grateful to God for the opportunity to serve Deltans,” he said.
The governor maintained that despite economic challenges, his administration has upheld strict financial discipline, ensuring that all awarded contracts are fully backed by available funds.
“We are here to thank God for the wisdom to execute development projects across the state without borrowing a kobo from anybody or any bank. Every contract awarded has available funding, and we continue to meet our obligations to contractors,” he added.
He also commended the relative peace and security in Delta State, noting that stability has helped attract investment and strengthen the state’s position as a leading oil-producing region.
Oborevwori praised security agencies for maintaining law and order and acknowledged former governors of the state — James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Ifeanyi Okowa — for laying the foundation his administration is building upon.
He also appreciated the support of Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Emomotimi Guwor, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, and other stakeholders, urging continued unity among Deltans.
“Delta is our home. We have no other state. What matters is how we come together to build it. With unity, Delta will continue to move forward and remain an example to others,” he said.
Delivering a sermon titled “Ever Increasing Progress,” Apostle Joshua Selman emphasized acknowledging God as the foundation for lasting success and growth. He highlighted principles for sustained progress, including devotion to God, discipline, knowledge, humility, strategic relationships, and thanksgiving.
The event also featured performances from gospel artistes including Dunsin Oyekan, Moses Bliss, Asu Ekiye, Solomon Urete, Jerry Ekpekuro, and Solo Kings, among others.
A major highlight of the celebration was the cutting of the third anniversary cake, marking three years of the administration in office. Prominent dignitaries present included former governors James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Ifeanyi Okowa, alongside senators, members of the House of Representatives, and other top political figures.
