The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded another significant breakthrough in its campaign against economic sabotage, following the conviction and imprisonment of four individuals found guilty of oil pipeline vandalism and conspiracy.
The convicted persons: Sylvania Elvis, Peter Ojichini, Bala Idris Adey, and Joel Bala Emmanuel were prosecuted after an extensive investigation carried out by the Intelligence Department of the NSCDC Delta State Command.

Delivering judgment at the Federal High Court in Asaba, Justice Olubanjo ruled that the prosecution had successfully proven its case beyond reasonable doubt, establishing all the essential elements of the offences against the defendants.
Based on the evidence presented before the court, the judge found the four accused persons guilty and sentenced them to various prison terms for their involvement in the unlawful tampering of oil pipelines.
Reacting to the verdict, Delta State NSCDC Commandant, Chinedu F. Igbo, described the conviction as a strong deterrent to individuals engaged in criminal activities, particularly those targeting the nation’s critical economic assets.
He urged young people and other members of the public to embrace legitimate means of livelihood and avoid criminal acts that could result in severe legal consequences and imprisonment.
Commandant Igbo reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain its operations against pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and other forms of economic crimes across Delta State. He emphasized that the Corps remains committed to safeguarding vital national infrastructure and ensuring that perpetrators are identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
He also assured residents that the NSCDC would continue to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering, and enforcement measures aimed at protecting the country’s economic resources.
The statement was made available to the public through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Anthony Uchenna.
